Kia Ora Gaza Song
OUR 2010 MISSION

Six volunteers from Kia Ora Gaza were part of a huge international aid convoy led by Viva Palestina that successfully broke the Israeli blockade of Gaza in 2010. This land convoy entered Gaza City at night to cheers from countless throngs of local Palestinians.

George Galloway, founder of UK charity Viva Palestina, shakes hands with Roger Fowler, captain of the Kia Ora Gaza team on the largest aid convoy to enter Gaza in 2010. The other five Kiwi Team members gather around at convoy base camp in Syria.
Our fallen heros
We remember the nine civilian aid volunteers on board the humanitarian vessel Mavi Marmara killed by Israeli commandos on 31 May 2010:
Ibrahim Bilgen
Ali HaydarBengi
Cevdet Kiliçlar
Çetin Topçuoglu
Necdet Yildirim
Fahri Yaldiz
Cengiz Songür
Cengiz Akyüz
Furkan Dogan

Kia Ora Gaza team members join other convoyers in Turkey to commemorate the nine civilians killed by Israeli commandos on the Gaza aid ship Mavi Marmara in May 2010. Photos of our social justice martyrs are held aloft. Their memory lives on in the international aid convoys challenging the ongoing Israeli siege of Gaza.
Our founding meeting

Robyn Hughes, a former Auckland Regional councillor, chairs Kia Ora Gaza's public foundation meeting in Auckland on 7 July 2010. Flanking her are (right) Steve Phillips, official representative of Ngati Whatua, and Grant Morgan, co-organiser of Kia Ora Gaza. The meeting agreed unanimously on Kia Ora Gaza's three aims: (1) deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, (2) help to break Israel's siege of Gaza, and (3) co-operate with others who have similar aims.
