2012 CONVOY: KIWI AID TO BESIEGED GAZA
In the first quarter of 2012, Kia Ora Gaza will join an international aid convoy to Gaza led by UK charity Viva Palestina. The convoy intends to break Israel’s illegal blockade of Gaza by linking up with Cairo’s democracy movement and entering the besieged enclave through Egypt’s land gate. This strategy could well lead towards the permanent opening of Egypt’s gateway to Gaza, thus fatally wounding Israel’s siege. That would be a truly world historic event. How can you reach out to the 1.5 million Palestinians imprisoned in Gaza? By donating towards our $50,000 Gaza Appeal to fund a four-person Kiwi Team and their humanitarian aid. Kia Ora Gaza has a proven track record. Our team was on Viva Palestina's 2010 convoy which broke the Gaza blockade and delivered NZ$7 million in medical supplies. Can we do it again? OUR 2010 MISSION
Six volunteers from Kia Ora Gaza were part of a huge international aid convoy led by Viva Palestina that successfully broke the Israeli blockade of Gaza in 2010. This land convoy entered Gaza City at night to cheers from countless throngs of local Palestinians.

Our founding meeting
Robyn Hughes, a former Auckland Regional councillor, chairs Kia Ora Gaza's public foundation meeting in Auckland on 7 July 2010. Flanking her are (right) Steve Phillips, official representative of Ngati Whatua, and Grant Morgan, co-organiser of Kia Ora Gaza. The meeting agreed unanimously on Kia Ora Gaza's three aims: (1) deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, (2) help to break Israel's siege of Gaza, and (3) co-operate with others who have similar aims.
