On 14 November, two days after Palestinian factions in Gaza agreed to a truce following several days of violence, Israel assassinated the leader of Hamas’s military wing, Ahmed Jabari, threatening to escalate the violence.
Once again, Israel has broken the ceasefire and taken lives of Palestinians in its pursuit to have a Zionist-Jew only state. This is a continuation of Israel’s systematic ethnic cleansing which targets Palestinians.
In the face of this atrocity, we must stand by the Palestinians and their families to show solidarity in their struggle against the forces maintaining the occupation, and show that they are not alone in their resistance against the terrorism that Israel has inflicted upon them.
Students for Justice in Palestine (Wellington) are organising an emergency picket, Friday 16 November, at the Bucket Fountain in Cuba Mall, to voice solidarity with Palestinians, and hold the Israel government and military to account for these attacks.
