Kia Ora Gaza launches urgent medical aid appeal

21 Jul

Part of the first convoy of emergency medical & food aid that arrived in Gaza last week via the Rafah crossing under the threat of Israeli fire.

Over 3000 Palestinians have been injured during Israel’s current genocidal onslaught. Their illegal siege on Gaza has left the medical services without basic supplies.

Kia Ora Gaza Trust has launched an urgent appeal for funds towards humanitarian relief in war-ravaged Gaza.

Funds will provide urgently needed medical supplies and food in the besieged Palestinian enclave.

As with our earlier appeal for emergency flood relief for Gaza in January, we have chosen to support the international appeal spearheaded by our colleagues in Viva Palestina Malaysia.

The photo below shows volunteers repairing flood damaged houses in Gaza funded by Viva Palestina Malaysia and Kia Ora Gaza donations. [The Kia Ora Gaza logo is shown to the left of the green VPM logo at the top of the banner. Kiwis donated $3500 to this relief project in January – see earlier reports on]

Funds will go directly to the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations who work in partnership with the Arab Medical Union and Palestinian International Medical Aid. Already a convoy of 7 trucks has managed to get through the Rafah crossing & delivered US$200,000 worth of essential medical and surgical supplies to Gaza’s health services. A second convoy is preparing to leave from Cairo with US$500,000 worth of medical equipment.
