Thousands of angry protesters took to the streets of northern Gaza to condemn hostile statements against the blockaded enclave made by the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas at the Arab League Summit on Saturday.The protest was organized by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Abbas referring to Saudi Arabia’s invasion of Yemen called on Arab countries to apply the same policy to all Arab countries including Palestine.Protesters shouted slogans against the Palestinian president and demanded that he step down.
Protesters described the Abbas’s statements as unpatriotic and hurtful to all Palestinians.Hamas officials described Mahmoud Abbas’s call for military action as another conspiracy against the Gaza Strip.
Many protesters also said Mahmoud Abbas can no longer represent them.Experts say that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s call on Arab countries to attack Gaza will only hurt Palestinian unity and jeopardize the creation of a Palestinian state.
