PressTV report 13 June 2015
Egypt has temporarily opened a critical border crossing with the Gaza Strip for the first time in months.
The Rafah crossing, opened on Saturday and will operate for three days. This, will allow Palestinians to travel in both directions. An Egyptian official said that some 15-thousand people have applied to exit the country. However only a few hundred are able to pass through each day. Egypt has opened the Rafah crossing in both directions only five days this year. Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza in June 2007. The blockade has cut off the territory from the outside world and has led to an economic and humanitarian crisis in the densely-populated enclave.
