Palestine News Network video report, Bethlehem, 23 August 2015
Hundreds of Palestinian Christians and Muslims protested this morning against the construction of the Separation Wall on the lands of the West Bank village of Beit Jala. Protesters marched to the site and dismantled an army gate that is prohibiting the Palestinian farmers from entering their lands. Following, Israeli forces shot tear gas at the protesters, injuring at least three.
Dr Mustafa Al-Barghouthi, General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative, said at the protest, “We will not allow Israel to continue its system of Apartheid and discrimination and confiscation of our land.” More that 48% of Beit Jala land has already been confiscated.
“We will not stop until we free our land from the occupation, from settlements, and from this terrible Apartheid wall – which we will bring down. What the young people did today is proof that nothing will stop our people from reaching their freedom. No force in the world can stop people who are determined to be free from becoming free.”
