Israel Bans 5765 Types of Construction Materials from Getting into Gaza
The Israeli occupation forces has updated the list of “dual-use-materials” that it bans from entering Gaza, thus hindering construction materials needed for the already slow reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip.
The new list includes 5765 materials used in construction, to the surprise of construction workers, who saw a severe limitation on the Palestinian private sector and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
Engineers involved in the reconstruction process told Sama News Agency that the list initially included a one-page timetable of items which are not allowed in, yet this list has been rapidly expanding, making the construction process almost impossible.
These sources expected that the list of materials which are not allowed into Gaza will reach 10,000, which means stopping the reconstruction process of the Gaza Strip.
The Independent Commission of Inquiry on the 2014 Gaza Conflict of the United Nation has stated that “18,000 housing units were destroyed in whole or in part.” Many of Gaza’s displaced are still homeless.
In his visit to the Gaza Strip two days ago, the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, described the siege imposed on Gaza as ‘suffocating’ and called on Israel to lift it.
