A warm welcome home for Marama Davidson

8 Oct

Green MP Marama Davidson talks to media after received a rousing welcome from a crowd of well-wishers at Auckland International Airport this morning.

After a week on the Women’s Boat to Gaza sailing from Sicily across the Mediterranean towards the tiny Gaza Strip, only to be hijacked in international waters by the Israeli navy and detained for two days – Marama was happy to arrive safely back home.  Marama described the international solidarity flotilla as “a life-changing event for me,” but her concern is for the Palestinian people she was prevented from reaching in the besieged enclave. “They are silenced, I am not – so I have a responsibility to use my voice.”
