Manukau City footballers appeal for sister club in Gaza

5 Jun

The Manukau City AFC has launched an appeal to support their sister football club in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza (the Al-Ahli Sports Club).

The Al-Ahli Club is still trying to rebuild after suffering two bombing attacks by Israeli fighter jets several years ago. Severe poverty and restrictions imposed by Israel’s siege of Gaza continues to hamper efforts to acquire building materials and equipment. The sister-club agreement was facilitated by Kia Ora Gaza on a visit to Nuseirat during an international aid convoy to Gaza in 2012.

The south Auckland club collected donations after their games in Mangere last Saturday, declaring “Football is “the beautiful game” for a number of reasons – this important humanitarian issue and fight for freedom is something we’re proud to support.”

For more info on how your can support contact or donations can be deposited in their Manukau City AFC bank account: (ASB) 12-3436-0032031-00
